Bundle and save!

This mitten pattern designed in the Norwegian Selbu style, features a gradient colour work pattern influenced by Sottish Fair Isle knitting, and is worked in the round from the cuff up. This pattern is designed for one adult size.

Each pattern kit includes:

-one physical copy of the Flekkefjord Mittens Pattern.

-Main Colour: Your choice of one 4oz skein of Mule Spinner 1-Ply 100% Wool- Sheep Shade Colourways.

-Contrasting Colours #1-5: Your choice of five 1oz skeins of Mule Spinner 1-Ply 100% Wool- Naturally Dyed Colourways.

This pattern requires 2.0 mm and 2.5mm (or size needed to achieve gauge) DPN or Circular needles (not included.)

About the Designer:

Kalea Turner-Beckman is a knitter, natural dyer, and hand spinner, living on Treaty 6 Territory in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She sources breed specific wools and dye plants from as close to her home as possible, as a way to connect with her local land base. She was a founding member of the Alberta Yarn Project.

Our Prairie Wool Sock Guide

When choosing socks, the Original Wool Socks are the warmest, the White Wool Mohair Socks are the softest, and the Hard Workin' Wool/Nylon Socks are the most durable.

Sizing

Our sock sizes correspond to men's shoe sizes or are slightly smaller. If you like your socks loose, you may want to pick the next size up. Most men tend to fit into sizes 10-12 or 13-15. Most women tend to fit into sizes 4-6 or 7-9. If your foot size is right on the upper border of a size range, we would recommend getting the next size up. This makes them a bit more forgiving when it comes to washing.

Sock Care

To keep your Custom Woolen Mills socks in tip-top condition, machine wash them gently and hang to dry to prevent shrinkage.

Proper fitting shoes have a huge impact on how your socks will wear. If you find you get holes in your socks quickly, you may want to assess how your shoes fit. In the meantime, we have a handy tutorial on how to darn socks.
