Yes, we have a little store packed full of all the products we make right here, onsite at the mill!
Yes, we ship throughout Canada and the USA using Canada Post and USPS.
We’re a small, rural based business - we don’t make it to the post office with deliveries everyday. We are also closed on weekends. Once you place your order, we will fill it and deliver it to the post office usually within 3 to 7 days, depending on the product ordered, then it is usual with Canada Post for another 5 business days or so for Canadian orders and around 2 weeks for USA orders. This means that for Canadian orders it usually takes around 2 weeks to receive your order and for USA orders it usually take 3 or more weeks to receive your order.
Our products are washable with care given to natural woolens. Depending on the settings of your washing machine, some products can be washed on the wool or gentle cycle of your machine, others are better being washed by hand or dry cleaned. See our “Caring for Your Woolens” page for more detailed information.
Yes! We make all our products using Canadian grown wool from sheep farms in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia (with a bit sourced from Manitoba or the Canadian Co-operative Wool Growers in Ontario). We then do all steps of processing, from the raw wool to finished product, right at our mill in rural Alberta!
Of course, we do import the cotton, hemp, and linen fabrics for our wool bedding as there are no Canadian origin sources of these textiles.
Yes, when you send fibre in for custom processing, it will be processed separately through each process in the mill and you will get your own fibre back.
The turnaround time for custom processing varies based on the product being made and the time of year. Generally, turnaround time for processing in batting or roving is approximately 8 to 16 weeks from when we receive your fibre here at the mill. The turnaround time for bedding is also approximately 8 to 16 weeks. The turnaround time for processing into yarn is usually around 6 to 8 months from when we receive your fibre here at the mill. Finally, the turnaround time for socks is approximately 12 to 18 months from when we receive your fibre.
Make sure that your fibre is good and dry when you package it up, then package it as compactly as possible in whatever bags or boxes you have available to you. Some people use vacuum pack bags, while others use old (but clean) feed bags or cardboard boxes. Wool is very voluminous and the shipping tends to be charged on its volume - the more you pack it down, the more economical it will be to ship. Make sure you label each bag or box with your full contact information, including name and phone number, and include a copy of your processing instructions with each package.
You pay on the finished weight of your processed fibre when it is all complete and ready to return to you. You can pay by Visa or MasterCard prior to having it shipped back to you, or by Cash, Debit, Visa, or MasterCard when you pick up your finished product at the mill.
At this time we are not offering guided tours and, unfortunately, are not able to accommodate large community groups. However, we are happy to allow small groups of up to 8 people to tour through the mill on a self-guided tour. We have some information-packed tour cards that explain about each step. Get in touch with us if you have further questions.
We are pleased to allow self-guided tours of the mill free of charge.
