Description
Beautifully hand crafted by local sheep-shearer Dave Carlson, this Turkish Drop-Spindle is excellent for both beginner spinners and experts alike. Small enough to carry around with you, it is both elegant and extremely functional.
The distinguishing features of the Turkish Drop Spindle are the arms. They make for a longer spin and when the spindle is full, they slide off the shaft and pull out of the ball of yarn leaving a nicely formed center pull ball ready to use.
Each Spindle is crafted one-of-a-kind from an array of different woods, and will vary from the one shown. All Spindles have been carefully balanced for a consistent spin.
Due to the unique nature of each Spindle, each will vary in weight and size.
Mini-sized Spindles weigh approximately 10-20 grams and will spin yarn of a lighter weight.
New in- Dave also makes Ring Distaffs! They are the perfect ergonomic accessory for any hand-spinner.
Hand-crafted in Alberta, Canada.

Picked up one of these spindles on a mill tour, so glad I did. My first and currently only turkish spindle, but I may come back for more in the future. Thing I love about this spindle is the grooves carved into the shaft of the spindle, most turkish spindles have either a hook on the end or a bump to tie a hitching knot around it. Not having to tie that knot makes spinning much fast, Kudos for putting them on both sides of the shaft to make it work whichever direction you spin with. Great spindles, would recommend!
