Description
Bring the goodness of Wool into your garden this year with our New Garden Kit!
Quality is important to us at Custom Woolen Mills, and some sections of fleeces have too much vegetation to meet our typical processing standards. To avoid simply composting all this fibre, these fleeces are collected and brought to Alberta based Ovis Aries, where it undergoes a heat and compaction treatment- a process that destroys any seeds or contaminants, and leaves behind a nutrient rich pellet. Pellets can be mixed into the soil as a moisture retaining fertilizer, or sprinkled on top of the soil as a pest and weed fighting mulch.
Benefits of Wool Pellets:
Natural Soil Boosting Fertilizer- Wool is packed with Nitrogen, Potassium and other micronutrients essential for plant growth, which release slowly as it breaks down, providing a consistent supply of nutrients. It also increases soil porosity, vital for root health the growth of important microbes in the soil.
Water Conservation and Temperature Regulation- Because Wool has a remarkable ability to absorb moisture, pellets increase the soils capacity to absorb water. This reduces the volume of water needed each time during watering, and regulates the temperature of the soil, mitigating the shock to plants from extreme temperature changes.
Pest and Weed Control- Wool pellets are commonly used on top of the soil as a method to deter slugs and snails, due to its barbed texture and potassium content. It can also be used as a mulch around plants to suppress weed growth.
100% Biodegradable and Non- Toxic- Wool is naturally biodegradable and non- toxic, making it an eco- friendly and safe alternative to chemical fertilizers and pest controls.
Our 6 Ply Garden Twine is spun and plied with strength in mind- and is 100% biodegradable, making it a sustainable addition to any gardeners arsenal. Use it for trellising plants, securing netting, or bundling your produce at harvest.
